A new edition to the SACHA DRAKE stable is versatile basics range SACHA DRAKE STRETCH. This 10-piece collection is made up of mostly separates in black and white that can be paired back with each other or worn on their own to create looks for work, rest, play, travel and maternity.
Sacha Drake’s philosophy is simple. ““I use my talent to make women happy. I like to design clothes that boost women’s confidence.” says Sacha.
Sacha’s commitment to designing clothes that are uniquely feminine, yet striking and flatter all women’s bodies are the core values behind her label. Sacha believes in realistic sizing and pricing that is reflective of most women.
“Women have a strong emotional attachment to dresses. Dresses are often worn on occasions that you are photographed, like Christmas, parties and weddings. I love creating the clothes that women choose to capture their history in,” says Ms Drake. “Beautiful, flattering and memorable frocks that hopefully will become the vintage of tomorrow!”
The cut of SACHA DRAKE garments have a classic influence that ensures their wearability for years to come. “My customers are not slaves to fashion trends, they want garments that celebrate their own individual style and quality that ensures that it’s a lasting wardrobe favourite,” says Ms Drake.
Sacha Drake is renowned for creating fabulous frocks in exquisite fabrics. Drawing inspiration from the season’s best fabrics, Sacha focuses on creating fun, stylish dresses with clean elegant lines that look fabulous on petite through to voluptuous figures.
Sacha’s fashion career began at age 14 when she started sewing lessons with a 70-year-old tailoress. This fashion doyen taught her made-to-measure pattern-making. She continued her education by studying fashion in Brisbane, costume design in London and film making in Rome.
In 2002, after working in many countries and industries, Sacha Drake returned to Brisbane and started her own fashion label. The label focuses on stylish, flattering dresses for the modern woman. Now in its 5th year, it has grown significantly employing 12 fulltime staff and is
“The foundation of a flattering garment is the fit.” In many of her garments, Sacha
employs a non-traditional pattern making methodology, much of which is self invented,
by draping fabric over the body then converting the style to a pattern.
This ensures the focus is on flattering and enhancing the body. The core fit of the
label suits an hour glass shape, fitting neatly around bust and waist with a bit
of extra room in the hip.
Many SACHA DRAKE garments can be worn more than one way. “Versatility is a trademark
of my label,” says the designer. Each collection features several outfits that can
be worn in a number of different ways.
The SACHA DRAKE Ultimate Black Dress (RRP $289.00) is the perfect example of this
versatility. The dress is made of black jersey and can be worn more than 20 different
ways, from sleek cowl-neck to strapless or as a skirt.
Another factor giving SACHA DRAKE’S clothes the edge is the fabrics. “I use various
Australian fabric importers. I’m constantly on the lookout for unusual designs, feminine
prints or fun quirky pieces. Mostly, I work with cool cotton fabrics for summer and
a range of stretch jerseys, and dress fabrics for winter.”
The range is very much “designer quality” but accessible to the middle market. “When
designing and pricing our range, I keep in mind my customers who want an individual
garment that fits and looks great but don’t have the budget for high-end product.”
Designed and manufactured in Australia, SACHA DRAKE clothes range between $160 (AUD)
for day dresses to $495 (AUD) for special occasion.
The fashion range is available in sizes 8 to 16. The Ultimate Black Dress comes in
five sizes: petite (6-8), small (10-12), medium (12-14), curvy (14-16) voluptuous
(16-18).
